Hampstead Papershade
Say the word Hampstead and it conjures up so many images and thoughts. This village perched high on a ridge to the north of London has always had its own identity and has attracted artists writers and intellectuals throughout history. And right next to it is Hampstead Heath, famously saved by the residents of Hampstead when the rampant expansion of the capital threatened to devour all that common land. The space has been immortalised by painters, Constable lived nearby, Keats heard a nightingale sing in the woods and Dickens used to walk up to the village to meet a friend, plotting his books as he walked.
Well, these days, Hampstead is still a lovely place to go. I happen to live quite nearby and love going to the women's pond for a bracing dip (there's a men's pond and a mixed pond too) and marvelling at the romantic, wisteria-clad pergola. Once you're on the heath it's hard to believe you are so close to London but climb to the top of Parliament Hill and you are rewarded with an epic view of the city below and, on a windy day, see countless kites darting about the sky.
The Hampstead Papershade comes as a flatpack in an A4 size envelope and you have the fun of assembling it at home.
It is 24cm in height, 28cm in diameter at the base and 22cm in diameter at the top. The supporting wheels has a diameter of 3cm which is the standard size for a table lamp or room light. We recommend you use a low heat, 40watt energy saving or LED bulb.
