Arts and Crafts Papershade
This bold design was inspired by a paper lampshade in a home I lived in as a child. It had been left by the previous owners and was a feature of the stairway with an ornate, wrought iron lampstand. My parents took it with them when they moved and hung onto the old paper lamp. It gained a new home in their kitchen for the rest of their lives. Now it's mine. It's too old and fragile to use (it must be over 100 years old) but I keep it in my studio as inspiration and a reminder of happy days in the warm family kitchen. The interpretation is not literal but it contains elements of the design which I think come from the Arts and Crafts period.
